  • Today we are discussing Alcatraz, a crime procedural premiered on Fox in 2012. The show follows a San Fransisco detective, Rebecca Madsen (Sarah Jones), as she uncovers a secret conspiracy about the prisoners of Alcatraz. Joining forces with an Alcatraz expert, Dr. Diego Soto (Jorge Garcia), the pair break into the hidden file room at Alcatraz to be confronted by an FBI agent Emerson Houser (Sam Neil). Emerson and his partner Lucy Sengupta (Parminder Nagra) explain that the strange crimes surrounding Rebecca are being caused by the 63s. The 63s are Alcatraz inmates that mysteriously vanished back in 1963 and are now returning, having not aged a day and with no memory of the previous 50 years that have passed. These 63s are causing havoc, and it is the job of the team to hunt them down and, more importantly, try to find out who took them and why they have jumped forward 50 years. Throughout the series, we see individual prisoners both in the past and present and how the events while living on Alcatraz continue to affect them. The show concluded with Rebecca confronting Tommy Madsen, her own grandfather and the person that killed her former partner. Rebecca is left stabbed in the middle of the street as the rest of the team discovers a set of keys that opens a sealed door on Alcatraz. Inside they discover a map that tracks the 63s and a mysterious man shown in flashbacks that appears to be the mastermind of the jump that led to the 63s entering the modern day.
