  • Constellation was a 2024 television show which aired on Apple TV+. The show follows the life of Jo Ericsson (Noomi Rapace), an astronaut aboard the International Space Station. Following an experiment by her fellow astronauts looking for a new state of matter, the ISS is struck with debris, resulting in the death of fellow crewmate and commander Paul Lancaster *William Catlett). Due to minimal life support and space in the remaining Soluze Module, Jo, now in command, is forced to remain aboard the station as the remaining three crew members leave while she must constantly work to repair the other capsule before her remaining life support runs out. Along with the pressures of survival, NASA’s Henry Calder (Johnathan Banks) requests the return of the experiment known as the CAL that, for 6 seconds, may have produced the results he has been seeking for 20 years. Through mysterious circumstances, Jo makes it back to Earth but discovers that many things are very different from the way she left them on Earth, such as the color of her car being different, elements in the cabinets being reorganized, and a piano in her house despite no one in the family knowing how to play. Many believe Jo has gone mad, and she is constantly forced to take anti-psychotic medication despite her belief that reality has changed around her while in space. It is revealed through various ways that Jo is indeed in a different reality and that this occurrence has happened to many other astronauts and high-altitude pilots, including Henry Caldera, hence his experiments with the CAL. After switching back and forth between her two daughters in the different realities, Henry is shown to have switched back to his original reality, where his malevolent doppelganger destroys the CAL. The show concludes with Jo and her daughter's understanding that they are in a new reality and in Jo’s original reality, where she died instead of Paul aboard the ISS, seemingly waking up with half of her face missing.
